Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve had a good year so far. I’ve had a very busy and interesting 2014 starting off with the launch of “Forever Mark Diamonds” in Brisbane where I did a feature spot and launched my new track “Diamonds are girl’s best friend”. I was also fortunate to wear a $20, 000 diamond tennis bracelet, thank you Charles Bentley from Diamonds International.
In February I was a featured soloist with the Robert Clark big band for the “Mater Little Miracles Ball” at the Brisbane Convention Centre. My electric string trio MASKE also performed a 20 minute showstopper set. It was great to play for this very worthy cause and it raised much-needed funds for the premature babies at the Mater Hospital.
My cruising season began with a trip to Hiroshima, Japan where I headlined on the Oceania Nautica around, South Korea, China and Japan. I performed four shows in the cabaret lounge and made many new lifelong friends from overseas. The food was amazing and I won’t forget the “Gala Tea Time” a very special food event that took my taste buds away.
After a quick journey home to Brisbane I hopped on the Queen Mary 2 in my home town of Brisbane. This time with some special guests coming along with me, my parents Justeen and Geraint Gregory. Over 12 days at sea for me and 17 for them. It was a wonderful experience to have them on board especially as they had a Princess suite which meant breakfast on the balcony and lots of other special things. I met many wonderful guests and a special guest entertainer, pianist Kym Purling from Adelaide. I hopped off the Queen Mary 2 in Kotakinabalu, in Borneo and flew straight home for a few days and was then flown to the mining town of Port Headland in far north Western Australia. This time back on the huge Royal Caribbean ship, The Voyager of the Seas. A lovely warm five day trip to Bangkok, with a fantastic band, a big stage and friendly guest entertainers. Another truly memorable trip which ended up seeing girlfriends in Bangkok at the airport for lunch before heading home to Brisbane.
I managed to squeeze in a performance at Kedron Wavell RSL for the Peter James Treasure day. It was great to see my friends and family who came and saw me perform with the Peter Blowes Band. Always a good crowd and receptive audience at Kedron. I hope to be back in September with a few more stories and new tunes.
Then straight back to Busan in South Korea to join the sister ship of the Voyager, The Mariner of the Seas. This time a very quick trip to perform for 30 minutes for the farewell show. I managed to catch up with another Aussie guest entertainer from Sydney, Tamara Guo it was great to see her again.
Another long journey home from Shanghai to Brisbane via Hong Kong for only a few days to refresh the batteries and change clothes then it was back to Busan in South Korea to re-join the Mariner of the Seas. This time for 12 days of cruising around South Korea, China and Japan. A full Chinese charter of guests were on board with not much English being spoken. So it was time to quickly learn two new Teresa Teng numbers to add to my show. This was done with the help of on board pianist, Ermello Quintas. A wonderful Filipino musician who I had the privilege of working with on the Voyager in 2013. After two massive shows in the main theatre with the Mariner of the Seas orchestra and a few fun days on the land with fellow guest entertainer Jim Maltman it was time to say goodbye to my cruising family and say hello to my land shows.
Next up a wonderful Mother’s Day concert at Ormiston College with world famous soprano “Mirusia”. She’s been touring the world with Dutch violinist Andre Rieu and has the voice of an angel. She’s now doing her own show around the world and I was asked to perform as support act with Gold Coast piano man Alex Fietz and perform the solo in Ave Maria, after another costume change I played Czardas with Mirusia’s mini orchestra. It was a wonderful experience to share the stage with her and to play for all the Mothers in the audience including my own. If you’re in Holland in October I will be touring as her feature violinist.
So what’s next..? You can catch me at the Sawtell RSL near Coffs Harbour on June 1. I’ll be cruising back to Asia in June/July followed by a big Sydney club tour at the end of August. Check the show dates page for the most up to date information.
All the best 🙂
